You can try to get the backtrace this way:

- Close KMail
- Install the "kdepim-dbg" package
- Start Konsole and run "gdb kmail"
- Type "run" + Enter
- Repeat the steps to crash the application
KMail should crash
- Go back to the Konsole window, type "bt full" and press Return a couple of
times. 

Finally paste that output here.
