Summary: misleading error message when pinentry-qt is missing
           Product: kmail
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Debian stable
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: bauerfichtner at gmail.com

Version: (using KDE 3.5.10)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian stable Packages

I have "pinentry-program /usr/bin/pinentry-qt" set in ~/.gnupg/gpg-agent.conf.
Somehow the package providing pinentry-qt got deleted. KMail then complained
that gpg-agent was not running whenever I had to enter the passphrase for my
secret key. gpg-agent was running, the problem was resolved by installing
pinentry-qt, nothing else was changed.
The error message is misleading. It should probably read that the required
binary was not found.
