@Marc: Please, would you like to give us some more details?
1) are you using a remote IMAP or a local mail dir?
2) what do you mean with "a lot"? 100, 1000, 10000, 100000... ?

P.S: I've just moved about 2000 emails on a remote IMAP folder, it needs some
time, but kmail (from KDE 4 trunk) doesn't freeze :-)
