Summary: Summary: Inconsistent Special Events Displays
           Product: kontact
           Version: 1.2.5
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs kde org
        ReportedBy: kde-2 dotancohen com

Version: 1.2.5 (using KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

In the Summary view of Kontact, the Special Events section can be configured to show birthdays and anniversaries from either/or the Calendar and/or the Contact List.

The items from the Contact List are less cluttered (do not show redundant information twice) and more functional (have links to the contacts) than the items from the Calendar. However, in order to show all anniversaries and birthdays, one must choose the calendar items instead of the Contact List items because some anniversaries and birthdays may not be listed in Kontact. Choosing both the Calendar and the Contact List entries means that the user will have duplicate entries. Actually, there will be treble entries because of bug #159761.

I propose that the items from the Calendar be made to look and function like the items from the Contact List. Thus, the user will not have duplicate entries, will have less clutter, and will have links to the relevant contacts.
