I see, I forgot some details. The test case continues:
- Folder windows opens with:
  "- LocalFolders"    |    "Local Folders"
  but there is not any of the many subfolders to see in this view.

(Maybe important) hint:
The ~/Mail was overtaken and NOT migrated in any way from KDE 3.5.9 to KDE 4.1 directly. I stopped working with KMail from 3.5.9 and working now with the new KMail on the same folder. Is there a problem with some indexes?
