It looks like mailody and therefore kmail has got support for MS Exchange using native protocols via Akonadi using http://www.openchange.org/ project.

Check out the link - hopefully in the near future Kontact/Kmail will support MS Exchange fully and also be fully ported to the Windows platform. :D
