Summary: Corrupted names in message list where accented
characters (e.g. umlauts) are used.
Product: kmail
Version: unspecified
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: rodney.baker iinet net au
Version: 1.2.4 (enterprise 20070904.708012) (using 3.5.7 "release 72.6" , openSUSE 10.3)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22.13-0.3-default
In the KMail message list if a Sender's name includes accented characters (e.g. using umlauts) KMail sometimes corrupts the display. The sequence of events is this...
1. Open KMail - name is corrupted.
2. Select a message line other than the one with accented characters - name display is corrected!
3. Click on the message line with the name containing accented characters - name display becomes corrupted.
4. Click again on the same message line - name display is corrected again.
5. Select another message, remains OK.
6. Select the message with accented name - display corrupts again.
7. Click again on the message with the accented name - it corrects itself again.
It seems like something is causing KMail to toggle between two fonts or character sets - one that displays the correct characters and one that doesn't.
I will attach screen shots showing the name both corrupted and displayed correctly.
