Summary: Autocomplete fileds should match vocals with/without
accents (áéíóú)
Product: kontact
Version: unspecified
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: ibc.listas aliax net
Version: desconocido (using 3.5.9, Kubuntu (gutsy) 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu1~gutsy1~ppa1)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22-14-generic
I use Kontact in Spanish language and have two contacts in Kaddressbook called:
- Maria A
- María B <-- Note the accent "í" !!!
When I start writting in Kmail "To" field the letters "mari" there just
appears "Maria A" (written with no accents).
Note also that any internet browser (Google, Yahoo) matches words with or
without accents even if the user searched the word with or withour accent.
For example, if I search in Google:
"Maria"
then Google will also match "maría".
I think Kontact should do the same when searching for a contact name, or mail
subject... Many times I write a mail direction in "To" header and it's autocompleted with a mail received in a previous mail but not stored in my Kaddressbook. In these cases is difficult to know how the sender wrote him name in the "From" field.
So I suggest to improve the mathing algorithm for the autocomplete behaviour in many Kontact fields.
