------- Additional Comments From ian pairowoodies com 2008-02-05 08:23 -------
Till, it was actually ME that paid someone to implement the ability for Kmail to compose HTML messages in the first place.

I forget what I paid exactly - it was back in 2004 or 2003. I'd be more than willing to contribute something to having this particular "bug" fixed as well.. but Ingo's comment that you refer to above stated that it was coming... and pointed out what was needed to make it happen... the editor seemed to me to be the biggest challenge - what's the point in implementing it if the text editor is going to be changed anyhow?

I'm no programmer - so I can't implement it. But, I am a supporter of KDE, have used it, have promoted it, have convinced others to switch to Linux and KDE, and have financially supported both KDE and paid for the HTML composing ability - and when I paid for that, believed that it would also mean being able to reply to HTML email without losing the formatting.

That was 5 fusking years ago!

By all means, if someone can state outright that the new editor will be such and such, and then someone comes along and says, "OK, to implement this feature will be x amount of dollars," damn - i'd be willing to donate something toward that.. and hopefully others who find this feature valuable would too.

But... what's there to donate to, when we don't even know if the present editor is going to be replaced, or if it has been, or what??

It's very easy for some to say, "implement it yourself or pay for the implementation..." and I understand that KDE is worked on mostly on a volunteer basis... but for fusk sakes - I HAVE donated.. I HAVE supported... so maybe someone from Kmail can tell me what to do next in order to get this feature implemented.
