Custom colors should only apply to system-wide colors, because THERE user decides if she/he want the system color or the custom one. KMail specific color is always "custom".
 
Currently keeping system colors "compatibility" and on the other hand defining KMail color is a hard task, please simplify it by changing this checkbox to "use KDE system colors". This checkbox would have impact only on system colors, KMail colors should always be editable.
