There were some reports close to, but not exactly the same, as this one. I hope this is not a duplicate.

The Notes part of Kontact displays the note if the cursor is moved on to it. It uses the correct colours and I believe also the correct font, as set (per note bases) in knote. Unfortunately, the note is displayed as much smaller than the actual note created in knote. For me, this means the text on the note is rendered too small to read. I get to see the note, but can't really read it.

I could of course double click on it to open it in an editing window, and see the contents therein, but that questions the whole purpose of having "quick (pre)view" option in the first place. Also, it is frustrating to try quickly check through some old notes in this manner.

If it is for some reason out of question to display the note as knote.rc or some similar declares (why would that be?), at least it should be configurable in Kontact in that case.

But then, speaking of only simple notes as we are, why on earth should there be more than one desktop-wide settings for how to display them? For something as simple as that it is horrendously counter-consistent.

Another usability problem, and related to that notion, is that the new notes being created in Kontact do not respect the knotes settings either. They are created by default as black on yellow (which I can't read), not as set in knotes. Again, if for some reason it is unreasonable to use knotes settings, then Kontact should have its own Notes settings available. Just because real world sticky notes are yellow (some of the time, when they're not light blue or pink) and some pens write in black, that cannot be forced upon the poor user, unlike claimed in one bug report.

Now the Notes part is effectively unusable, and one needs to run KNotes applet alongside Kontact in order to employ this functionality, despite Kontact already having it implemented in a componentised fashion.

Third issue here is, why doesn't the Summary view display the note (When the cursor hovers on its name) as a note? It is shown as a tool tip text or something like that. This hardly makes much sense. If the Notes component displays them as notes, how come the list in Summary view does not?

Thank you for considering these issues for future Kontact/KDE releases.
