Summary: openning of URL from KMail goes via kde-cache
           Product: kmail
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Fedora RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs kde org
        ReportedBy: mr.beeba volny cz

Version: KDE 3.5.6 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

I experience quite an anoying behaviour of the KMail when opening URLs comming in an e-mail content. When clicking on the URL link (KMail does any URL in an e-mail clickeble), the related page does not open in a web browser directly (the browser is not given the URL), but the page is first downloaded into a temporary location on my disk and the browser is given the local copy of the page to be opened instead of the original URL. This behaviour cannot be affected in settings of the KMail in any manner. Perhaps, when opening a PDF from a mail (as an attachment), it is necessary to store it into a temporary location (/tmp/kde-cache) in order to pass the document to KPDF, but there is no sense in handling the URLs in the same way. The flaw of this approach is, that only the single file which the URL points to is downloaded instead of a complete web page. In result, all CSS, pictures, frames, etc. are missing in the temporary location and the browser cannot display the page correctly. The only way to bypass this is to copy the URL (under right button) into a clipboard and to paste it into the browser manually.
The feature of opening URLs from KMail would be worth of working up to a consistent and reasonable behaviour.
