Yes, it does the same thing for KMail standalone.

I have tried installing some kdepim packages, but I guess I did not install
the right ones, as I got no more info than what I have sent you. Should I
install developers' package? As for qt, there are several packages as well,
so I don't know which to install.

On top of that, I tried to install a newer version of KDE... but the
installer could not find OpenGL... same problem with finding the right
package to install.

I don't mind learning by trial and error, but I do miss a few cues as to
what to look for, or how to recognize the right packages.

Does the same happen when launching KMail standalone?
Can you try to install the debug packages of kdepim, kdelibs and qt to get a
better backtrace?
