I"m using online imap to access my emails.
Sometimes it happens that KMails displays an email message just fine but later that message is not displayed at all (the message part remains white) or just appears empty (i.e. just the header informations in the message window part without the email's text).
The message is NOT deleted from the server, it's all fine on the server side. Others programs like Thunderbird can load the message just fine.
KMail usually shows the text again after some time (sometimes hours, mostly after one or two days), usually after restarting the application.

Most messages of my inbox are displayed just fine, but often a few are displayed empty.

I know that this is not enough information to fix that bug, but I'm unable to see a pattern how that happens. Sometimes KMails also crashses if I click on some empty messages, but that's probably another bug.
