Yeah, that would indeed be a good solution. In particular, together with 
the upcoming feature to have local subscription allowing you to have 
different subscriptions for different accounts (in KMail) for the same 
account on the server, e.g. you could create a normal IMAP account 
(with subscription of the archived folders) in addition to your dIMAP 
account (which would be subscribed just to the non-archive folders).

Please submit an enhancement request for allowing unsubscribed folders 
as expire/move target.
