the messages that have this original problem are all composed in 
X-Mailer: Novell GroupWise Internet Agent 6.5.3 
unfortunately, all these messages i have are confidental. i also cannot ask the sender to do some test-emails in the near future. i'll try to remove confidental information out of such an email and try to reproduce and if it behaves same, i will post it here.

if i try to forward a message to myself (as attachement, containing attachements) in kmail, i get a slightly different structure of teh email and if i try to save all attachements, it tries to save the encapsulated email as "forwarded message" as one file.

i expected it to offer actually to save the attachements as single files... but also here it helps opening the encapsulated message in separate window and then saving attachements works as expected.
