Video editor

Hi how are you

I recently installed the video editor using terminal on debian 11 bullseye
and when I load my file into the time line the preview screen flashes and
it is very hard to accurately edit the video. Is this because I'm using the
wrong version or do I have to change the settings inside the app itself? I
have a dell chromebook and use the linux virtual machine which always works
for other apps so I am unsure if I need to go back to a previous version of
the app? I installed it using sudo apt install kdenlive
