Debug / track down kdenlive

On two computers with Kubuntu 22.04, kdenlive freezes most of the time 
when I just start it and then quit, without any other user interaction.

This happens with all 22.04.* AppImages, and with the current master 
branch I just compiled.

'ps' indicates that kdenlive is running, and three instances of kioslave5.

Is there a way to get debug messages to identify what is going wrong, or 
how far the 'quit' process proceeded?
