So I found a fix:


Create a profile and name it MJPEG


Add this line:

-vf scale=1024:-1 -q:v 3 -q:a 128k -vcodec mjpeg -acodec pcm_s16le


Maybe a good alternative is to store it in an MKV instead of a MOV. From
the quick test i did it worked really well!

I have created a Kdenlive room on Matrix which will be bridged* with the
current irc channel.

#kdenlive:matrix.org

I recommend using Riot to access it via your phone (iOS and Android). Join
us from time to time while commuting and chat, share projects or help some
newbies with doubts when possible. Hopefully it will make communication
easier between users.

At the moment we can consider this an unofficial communication channel in
this testing period.
We can eventually setup rules, guidelines, etc... but we can start using
the KDE rules of conduct.

Let's chat!

priviledges at the irc channel.

I've a question regarding rescaling (i.e. downscaling in my case):

If my input clips are 4k; will the rendered video be the same (identical)
- if I choose 4k as the project type and rescale to QHD in the render window, or
- if I set QHD as the project type, without rescale in the render dialog?

Especially: which scaling algorithm will be used?

You might want to get in contact with kde-sysadmin (#kde-sysadmin) as there is 
some general talk about alternatives to IRC in KDE. The kde-community mailing

i am editing a project from 3 different cameras at 24fps but sadly one of
our cameramen forgot to adjust the camera and shot at 30fps. how do you
deal with this situation?

happily his task was mostly b-roll so i don't care much about audio sync.
should i be worried if i import his footage to the project? might it cause
a rendering problem or corruptions?

Hi Farid,
should work out of the box (speed/freeze effect notwithstanding) as such. I'm regularly mixing 30fps source footage into 25fps projects -- shame on me! :)
However, you may notice slight differences due to the different "shutter" speed and the image pulldown. In my case, which is handdrawn illustrations, this is actually a bonus, but your mileage will vary...

Hi Jean-Baptiste,

positive: sound works for me with the AppImage version on Kubuntu 17.10.

negative: unfortunately, an existing project using a complex multi-track 
compositing including track-wise crop, scale and tilt doesn't work 
correctly. In contrast, the current master ppa version does work correctly.

I just notice that the AppImage version drops the crop, pan and tilt 
effect; didn't test if this is track-wise only or a general issue.

I have written some thoughts about it in here:

I think I could mentor you on this one. It will require some javascript/Qml coding but doesn't require to dive deep in Kdenlive's code. If there is extra time, it would also be possible to improve the on monitor rotoscoping ui that uses the same approach.

Hi,

testing the alpha3 appimage with one of my existing projects still has 
the timeline not loading track effects (crop, zoom & pan in particular). 
Also, clicking on a transition (qtblend) in the timeline causes a crash.

Hello,
These icons are handled by the window manager. Hasn't it crashed 
globally (other apps behaving the same)?
Please let us know if you your problem is solved (reboot?)
Also note that Mint provides old software release (eg Kdenlive 15.12), 
you may prefer to use ou PPA or even better ou Appimage to get a more 
recent version that will fix many bugs.

Hi,

A couple of days ago I posted the message beneath to the kdenlive forum. 
There has been no response so far, so I decided to give it a try here:


    To show the roles and their actors in a movie, I want to use tab
    stops within a text frame in a title clip, like

    <Role><tab><actor/actress>

    This way the names of the actors/actresses get nicely aligned
    vertically.

    When within the text frame, entering text, this works fine, but as
    soon as I leave the text frame, the tabs are ignored, and on each
    line the name of the actor/actress is set immediately after the last
    character of the name of the role.
    When rendered, that's what I get too.

    As soon as I re-enter the text frame, the tabs are back again, to
    disappear again after leaving the frame.

    I use a proportional font, so using spaces to separate name role
    from name actor/actress is not a real solution.

    I'm using the Appimage version 17.12, on Tumbleweed (a rolling
    distro from OpenSuse Linux).

    I there a solution for this problem?


Anyone on this ML who can shed a light on this problem?
