Ambiguity of "clip"

Hi all,

I'm trying to debug a rather upsetting corruption issue, and doing so, I 
realized  that the word "Clip" is used to refer to two different kind of 
things : footage (things you find in the project bin) or instances of 
such footage in the time line.

I think it would be clearer to have two different terms: has this point 
already been discussed?
