Submit patches via bug tracker? How to best go about it?

I added a patched file to a bug I'd reported a while back (see 
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356493). The Kdenlive website said 
patches should be submitted via the bug tracker, yeah?

Just wanted to get the proper procedure so I could make potential 
future patches and code contributions headache-free for the devs.
