Hi,

two annotations concerning the website from a user-perspective:

It would be nice if the headers on the features-page would directly link
to wiki-topics giving more details and some help on the issue. E.g.
otherwise it's hard find any information about hardware support.

Also, the header has no link to a documentation (wiki and user-manual).
These should be easily accessible, also from all sub-pages. The second
menu on the front-page is kind of "hidden" and hard to find.

I'd like to know if there are any possibilities to let kdenlive use any
hardware acceleration? I couldn't find any reliable information about
this topic.
ffmpeg does use gpus via various interfaces for de/encoding, does
kdenlive also use (activate) them?

Do effects and other features benefit from cuda/opencl/opengl etc?

I found this bugreport from 2013, I wonder if it is still the
up-to-date? There haven't been any discussion or updates.

Hi there.

Hardware acceleration is supported through the movit library. You have to
install it, and then enable it in settings.

Unfortunately for me, movit does not work for my setup, which is a bit of a
disappointment, as I would like to do x265 encodings.

Hi all,

I spent my day at KDE's Akademy to work on a Kdenlive Appimage package. 
Turns out it was not too hard, I have uploaded the build script in 
phabricator for reference:

Kdenlive starts correctly, but not many codecs are compiled in ffmpeg so 
most file formats currently fail to open, which can probably be fixed 
rather easily by adding some extra libraries

Now comes the tricky part: image hosting and distribution. Distributing an 
AppImage with FFmpeg needs to be done carefully (to comply with the 
licensing and avoid patent issues). If any of you has an advice on that 
topic, it is welcome.

This patch allows users to control the automatic property of transitions when creating new transitions, for instance, through the timeline clip context menu, or by dragging and dropping a transition. Hi,
have been working on some more daytime projects, I still see timeline corruption from time to time. It doesn't happen to me when I simply move a few clips. But when moving something around 40, 50 clips, with transitions, and on at least two tracks, then I still get duplicates. In three of my current projects I had this issue. All projects were fresh starts.
I'm not exactly sure, but corruption seems to hit transitions mostly. Luckily, with the automatic transition cleaner on reload, overlapping transitions get correctly removed ... leaving an unsafe feeling, though.
The spacer tool is affected in the same way, at least I got corruption with both the spacer as well as the normal move tool.
As I said, you need to move a larger chunk of timeline elements to trigger corruption. Unfortunately, in my work flow I need to do this regularly ... I'm still missing the function to enlarge an image clip in the timeline, where at the same time everything on unlocked tracks would automatically make room... ;)

We have many bug reports regarding our interface with Movit, so I would not recommend it for the moment.

And it accelerates only effects/transition calculations, not encoding (most often the time consuming part):
for that, one should try FFmpeg encoders like hevc_vaapi / h264_vaapi (creating new encoding profiles)...
maybe it can work?!
Would be interested by results if one finds time to try...

This patch allows users to control the automatic property of transitions when creating new transitions, for instance, through the timeline clip context menu, or by dragging and dropping a transition. For this, it implements a new configuration option, accessible both from the status bar, as well as the "timeline" tab of the configuration dialog.

Additionally, this patch fixes the inconsistent behavior when copying and pasting transitions. The pasted transition now properly takes over the automatic setting from the clipboard.

Vincent is more familiar with PPA handling but he has some other (nice) 
business to mind these days. I will have a look tonight if I can sort it 
out.

By the way, Narcis, Launchpad only offers Ubuntu targets, sorry.

On the packaging side, yes there was some great progress. I now have an 
Snap and an AppImage ready for testing. However we still have to figure 
out how to handle security and hosting so it might still take some time 
(hope not too much) before we can make them publicly available. I am in 
discussion with people from Ubuntu for the snap package, and have yet to 
contact more KDE people for AppImage hosting...

I happen to like the name Kdenlive, and having used the software for a long
time have a great familiarity with the name. Calling it anything else would

pane with the recent git master commit :)

We've now made the "raise properties" configurable, you'll find three 
new checkboxes in the config dialog, tab timeline. Select those timeline 
elements which, when selected, should raise the props. We default now to 
the classic Kdenlive behavior, that is, raising on clips, transitions, 
tracks. Just untick "clips" and you're set.

Description

As it seems, MLT during export produces duplicate producers for image clips, title clips, and color clips. It is arguable if this is an MLT issue, or not. Anyway, in order to improve the situation to Kdenlive library users, this patch adds a duplicate producer detection to the playlist import.

upon start:

Thread 1 "kdenlive" received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

Same git master, when directly compiled from sources, starts up correctly.

I just recieved an emergy project to edit and the format of the files is in
MTS. I need to transcode them to another format to be able to edit. They
are at a framerate of 29.97 and in the options it is missing...

Any tip on how to add it?

Is there a way that the transcoded clip have the same in and out points as
its original file?

Would proxy files help me here, will I get a sync error when rendering
afterwards?

It really is amazing, the number of formats that Kdenlive can just edit
directly.

4K? No problem..

Magic Lantern RAW (MLV format) it reads it, and you can edit it, even makes
proxies, but it is not on the supported file types list...

Simply amazing.
