well, the git svn import i did shows two completely linear branches of 
development:

  - trunk from 3 (20020215) to 2618 (20081102)
  - KDE4 branch from 1777 (20071229) to 3096 (20080303)

then rev 3100 copies the KDE4 branch to trunk on march 4 (killing the KDE4 
branch at that time), and there have been two commits on the new trunk since 
then.

does that sound like the correct history topology?
