In fact, this is most likely not only PowerMac-related but big-endian related.

What is the source format type you're using in kdenlive? Is it a format
that needs deinterlacing?
If you're experiencing the same color symptoms in kaffeine, it can
originate from the deinterlacing code, which IIRC was borrowed from xine
at some time for MLT, or maybe an external library kdenlive and kaffeine
have in common.

Another question, do you experience the problem in the rendered video
file?
