It works for me, for example in the Timeline menu, the tools have spanish 
names. Of course, a lot is still in english because it is not translated yet.

Please test the following:
open a konsole and type:
export KDE_LANG=es

Then, from the same konsole:
kdenlive

It should start with spanish translations.

do a 
export KDE_LANG=""
to go back to english

Should work like that.
