It's to prevent them from crashing Kdenlive :)

I have commited some code that tries to autodetect which effects are 
available on your system.

The Volume and Mute effects depend are shown if there is a "volume" line 
in the file /usr/local/share/mlt/modules/filters.dat

All other audio effects rely on Ladspa. You need to install a package 
called swh-plugins ( http://plugin.org.uk ) to have them work. (I need 
to add this to the requirements)...

Let me know if you think you have the plugins installed but not 
displayed in Kdenlive.
