Yeah, I am sorry about that. MLT is a bit undermaintained at the moment as I 
am quite busy with day job and sole maintainer of Kino. (I am making a last 
push of polish on Kino prior to its retirement at age 1.0 :-) Also, I speak 
not for Charlie or Zachary, but I am trying to be responsive to kdenlive's 
needs on behalf of the MLT project. For now, you can not use that option. 

Jb, maybe we should discuss with Charlie the ability to give you commit access 
to MLT.

It looks for a shared installation of libavformat and libavcodec that is in a 
common place (/usr or /usr/local). Otherwise, as jb suggested, you can point 
it to the directory where you have successfully compiled ffmpeg.
