Dear Mathijs,

Some of the proposed changes are already in CVS.

Could you make a fresh checkout from CVS and verify that the code compiles 
fine. Then, if would like to issue a patch, it is recommended to use the "cvs 
diff -u" command, which is more simple to read and apply.

Do not hesitate to send the patch to the list and it will be applied 
immediately.
