A quick scan of the kdenlive log seems to show parsing errors in the
communication between kdenlive and piave. My first guess would be that you
are using incompatable versions (very likely at this stage in development,
I'm afraid!)

Which versions of piave and kdenlive are you using? If you use kdenlive 0.2,
then use piave 0.2 with it. If you use kdenlive cvs, then use piave 0.2.2 or
piave cvs with it.
