Oops, interesting is the right word alright, I got it wrong.
I divided 1Meg (1,000,000) by (13*2), when it should have been by approx
(13000*2).
So it is actually only 38 clip's thumbanils that could be transfered per 1meg
of data transfer.
I'll try and be a bit more accurate as I make my next estimate :-)
If we assume that we are editing a 30 minute show, with 1 clip every second
(an purposefully overestimate), we will hav 30*60 = 1800 clips, which adds up
to approximately 45 meg of thumbnails.
I still think that we can get away with using either files or pipes - it will
be rare that so many thumbnails will need to be generated, and it is not
possible for them to all need to be generated simultaneously - they wouldn't
fit on the screen :-)
