Yes, if your SMB server's setup is broken, that's the correct behaviour.

However, a properly setup server (including Windows machines as serves, for
which no setup should be necessary) should work fine under Dolphin. If there's
a problem with that, please file a new bug report.

This bug report here is about local files.
