https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75492 seems to be related to this but only
by the symptoms preseted. 
The problem is that kdeinit does not manage to launch applications associated
with files when these files are clicked. For instance, if I click on a text
file expecting kwrite to launch i get a pop-up which says: 

"KDEInit could not launch 'kwrite'.:
Could not find 'kwrite' executable."

"KDEInit could not launch 'kompare'.:
Could not find 'kompare' executable."

On OS X, KDE programs live within bundles. it seems kdeinit is not given the
correct location of the executables. 
kwrite for instance would be in kwrite.app/Contents/MacOS/kwrite
