Here Using KDE4.1.3 ,Qt4.4.3 on ArchLinux x86_64:
I can't reproduce it.(Saving the screenshot on a folder (no matter if it
contains *.jpg/*.jpeg files , or not), selecting JPEG file in the file filter
combo, and saving the image, doesn't trigger the crash).

May be it'ś related to some images in the folder in which your trying to save
the screenshot?. Have you tried saving the images in another folder with
another set of images already on it
