i understand that can be frustrating, but bugs.kde.org is not the venue for this. can i suggest the mandriva support forums instead?

given that it is affecting your non-kde apps and that it works in another OS using KDE (kubuntu) it really is certainly not a KDE issue but something with your mandriva installation. 

i really don't know what it could be off the top of my head, and i really feel sort of bad moving you on to another place for support like this, but .... it really is the right thing to do. i'm sure you can imagine that if we provided user-level operating system specific support for every user here that we'd never get anywhere on kde itself. =)

here's a possible hint though: if you're running their metisse window manager it does thing with ctrl+scroll itself so it may be getting in the way. try a different window manager, such as kwin, to confirm.

in any case, i'm closing this bug as it's not a kde bug =)
