Can reply to texts using kdeconnect-sms but can't start a thread

I can reply to a text using kde-connect, but can't text to a new
recipient.  There seems to be no way to specify the (desired)
recipient's cell phone number.  Hopefully, I'm just missing something
obvious.

Desktop: 
   Fedora-32
   KDE Frameworks 5.73.0
   xcb windowing system
   QT 5.14.2
   SMS Instant Messaging 1.4.0

Phone:
   Verizon LG G3 VS985 (VS985 4G LTE)
   Android 6.0
   KDE Connect LG G3 4G
