Question about interface usage

thanks for the quick answer.
Yes, they are on different subnets. Using the current IP address of the laptop
on the wifi net allows me to connect (which is a good sign).
Since I am roaming between various locations and networks, this IP address
changes depending on the net I am attached to with both devices and also the
time I attach the device to the net (DHCP). Using a name is not an option, as
the name maybe different in different network environments.
Any ideas?
