I agree that something like "formatting options" is where this is likely to
be... but I tried to find something along those lines before posting here, and
failed :-( There are probably some other magic words, but I couldn't guess them.

Again, I can't find those words.
Entering even just the word "formatting" in the search function of the
kdevelop handbook came up with no hits :-(
There is an item called "Configure Source Formatter" in the kdevelop settings,
but that seems to be undocumented -- and is completely mysterious to me; I
couldn't figure out at all where any function that's causing the change to the
pasted text might be being controlled. I suspect (just a suspicion) that in
any case "Configure Source Formatter" simply controls how existing text is
formatted, and has nothing to do with the specific problem that I'm trying to
address.
