xdialog hasn't gotten any dev love in over 19 years - the most recent
changelog is from 2006 on the project's official website. And I
believe is still gtk2 only. Left to rot two years before the wayland
project started proper in 2008!
which was superseded by gtkdialog which appears to be having issues updating
which appears to be superseded by yad ("Yet Another Dialog") which is
still under active development, designed for use within bash
scripting, and is devved out for both xorg and wayland!
Perhaps if xdialog was maintained over the past very nearly two
decades it would be more compatible?
idk, but, it looks like "non-garbage Open-Source" went extinct 19
years ago per your stated metric....
