kmix looks broken

The height of the slider seems to be somehow (inversely) related to
the length of the text that describes the device.  That is, the longer
the description, the less room there is for the slider.  And this also
means to reproduce this, you need devices with very different string
descriptions to see this. For example, I have an M-Audio 2496 and a
Logitech Webcam and they all have different slider heights from the
built-in intel device.
