KDE filter on 'is in category' doesn't perform filtering

I've only had filters working for items coming into the Inbox. A verrrrry long 
time ago i had (i think) fetchmail getting emails and they were transferred in 
the users local mailbox, i had Kmail set up to get the emails from users local 
mail box and filtering worked at this point.  I may be totally wrong as my 
memory is shit.
