KMail fails to find new folders it creates from IMAP

I'm using Kontact getting to mail over IMAP.
The IMAP server is Dovecot.

When I create a folder in Kontact I see the folder
created on disk, but it is not shown in the tree
view in Kontact Mail.

Using Ctrl-F5 does not bring in the folder.
Using Server side subscriptions with the
new folder checked does not work.
Rebooting to ensure all services restart
does not fix the problem.

Is this a known problem? What is the fix?
How can I help debug this issue?

Fedora 17
 akonadi-1.9.1-1.fc17.x86_64
 kdepim-4.10.2-3.fc17.x86_64
 dovecot-2.1.15-1.fc17.1.x86_64
