Well in that case I propose you use either of these two alternatives below
- Adept : another graphical package manager for KDE, did not face any problems so far at-least
- use the command like of course 
  * aptitude show <package-name> : will display all the details, dependencies, etc ...

FYI : I am on KDE SC 4.2.2 and think of migrating to KDE SC 4.3 soon !!
