Moving Kate vertical splitter

Is there a way to configure Kate to move the vertical splitter another
50 pixels or so to the right on startup? As it stands, the Bookmarks
icon is hidden, and I use that icon often. Therefore, the first thing
that I do when I open Kate is to adjust that splitter.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.
