Kmail mailing lists disappearing

Mandriva 2009.1, KDE 4.2.4, Kontact 1.4.4.  I create a distribution list.  It 
seems fine.  I close Kontact, then re-open, and the list is gone.
 Has anyone else experienced this behavior?
