movie previews in konqueror or dolphin

Do you mean that you can't find: "File Management -> General" in the 
Konqueror KCM in Konqueror at "Settings -> Configure Konqueror"?

The option isn't going to be there unless you have MPlayer installed and 
either have KDEMultimedia that includes MPlayerThubs or you installed it 
separately.
