Firefox and Thunderbird both Hang

On a regular basis both Firefox and Thunderbird will
hang the system for a period of time, for example
1-2 minutes. I have the following S/W levels.

Thunderbird:    2.0.0.19
Firefox:             3.0.7
KDE:                 kdebase-4.2.1-2.fc10
Fedora:             Fedora 10
