Disabling hibernation or sleep mode

Assuming I have understood your question.

This has been an install option in part for some time but I'm not sure about 
the more recent distro's.  From memory it's usually something like no acpi or 
acpi=off etc. I would check your installation options.  If that is there you 
may find that you can't prevent your disks from going into standby mode which 
can be very annoying as they take too long to spin up.

If you are being auto logged off after inactivity I would ask on a kubuntu 
forum. I would be surprised if a default kde did that. (?)
