I do sincerely appreciate the information given here regarding my inability
to type in a kubuntu session and I solved it with a rather bold move for a
newbie. I can state without reservation that a newbie can be too curious and
not cautious enough given their ability to comprehend the linux file system
and navigation in general. So while I dearly love the kubuntu desktop for
now I will for go that pleasure until I understand and appreciate all the
nuances of gnome. The bold move I spoke of was re-partitioning, burning a
8.10 live CD and installing it with a firm resolve to stay in gnome until I
become more proficient. A special thanks to Anne whom I have used as a
crutch too much. And thanks to everyone else as this is truly a user
friendly list

Regards

Allen
