KDE4 not loading?

Hello all! New to the list and i am sure with the release of KDE4, this may have been asked. Excuse if it has...
I use opensuse 10.3 and have kde3.5.8 installed. I used the kde4 repo at opensuse to install kde4 but after a system reboot, it boots to kde3. Do you have to switch between kde3 and kde4? Thanks for any help
