Simpy close all opening programs (under Linux of course ??? ).
You may not switch off your PC with a sudden under Linux.
You have after work to end session by logging out and by shutting down
your Linux - and NEVER switch off your machine !!! before it shut down
completely -
this way your desktop settings are saved like you left your desktop !
manomanoman ... but no need to shame ... all nerds learn this way to love
Linux ...
